ATTRIBUTES OF IDEAL ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS
- Recognize that being on the Advisory Board does not bring fame or glory
- Are willing to serve the time required to perform the duties outlined for each position
- Make good business decisions
- Are willing to perform the many tasks that are required to perform the duties outlined in the Operating Handbook
- Can make decisions that satisfy the needs of the majority of homeowners in the community
- Respect the rights of others
- Have some experience with budgets and financial statements
- Know how to spend and conserve funds wisely and follow budgets
- Show pride in the community
- Are willing to be a hands-on-person
- Have good organizational and time management skills
- Can collaborate with peers
- Have good oral and written communication skills
- Will conduct themselves as a good role model for other residents
- Are in good standing: meaning they follow the covenants/design standards/bylaws and that they pay their association dues on time
ATTRIBUTES OF THOSE WHO WOULD NOT FUNCTION WELL ON THE ADVISORY BOARD
- Are rigid rule enforcers
- Are on a power trip
- Are self-serving
- Are lazy
- Are not task oriented
- Are not able to follow through on assignments
- Think the covenants and bylaws do not apply to themselves
- Do not pay their association dues on time
- Do not follow the design standards
- Do not have the time to devote to carrying out the duties outlined in this handbook
